Aron Frost
My name is ARON, Im autistic, I joined the Brize Norton air cadets when I was 14 . I was very shy, not very confident and found social situations quiet challenging. The air cadets changed my life, I made friends, I enjoyed meeting new people , I learnt new things.
It was at air cadets when I first heard about the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, it sounded interesting but I wasn't sure I could do it at first, but wanted to try . I volunteered to help children learn, encouraging and supporting one boy to study hard to pass his S.A.Ts, I love learning and really enjoyed helping someone else to set a timetable for studying. I'm not a very strong runner so set myself a challenge to run a mile without stopping, with support from a PE teacher at school and 3 months of training I managed to run a mile continuously without stopping in 13 minutes. I think the most difficult challenge for me was the expedition challenge,it's was hard, exhausting and I was very much out of my comfort zone, but the support and encouragement I received from the corporal,ATC and the friends Iv made at air cadets kept me going. My bronze award encouraged me to be brave, be inspired, be successful, I am very proud of what I achieved, the New things I experienced and the friends I have made.
Ready to start working towards my silver once the pandemic is over.
