I did my Bronze DofE in 1984 at school. Aside from the mud and ridge tents (where everything that could crawled into the tent with you) my main memory was the teachers blowing a hole through the top of their tent when their gas canister exploded!

In later years I qualified as a mountain leader and now work on DofE expeditions where I see endless examples of life long memories being forged and lives being transformed.
