I achieved my bronze DofE award quite a few years ago now but I still remember everything like it was yesterday. Being a shy introvert kid at school this took me out of my comfort zone by quite a long way. I wasn’t at all sporty so tried a sport that I would never have done. I went on the expedition with people I didn’t even know from my year but it really did give me so much more confidence I genuinely believe doing the DofE award changed me and gave me confidence that I wouldn’t have got otherwise. This is why now as a mum I have encouraged my son to take part and he is now working towards his Bronze award and although he is doing it in a challenging year to say the least he is loving it and can not wait to do the expedition. I have 2 other children who I will also encourage come the time all because of my amazing experience. Thank you Prince Philip for founding this amazing scheme, a true legend and extraordinary man.
