Bronze physical I ran a 5k. In school pe I had to walk during the 1500m so I definitely set myself a challenge here. After completing 5k I got a bronze award in school for my time in the 1500m, something I never thought could happen. I ran a 5k colour run where you wear white top and get covered in coloured powder.
Silver expedition my group got chased by cows. This was scary at the time however now I laugh looking back at it and it is one of my strongest memories from the expeditions.
Gold skill I learnt to drive and I ended up passing my test first time. To go from never being behind the wheel before to becoming a qualified driver was a journey and an achievement.
Gold residential was actually the best week of my life. I didn’t know anybody when I went however I bonded with strangers and had a lot of fun completing activities in the process.
Gold expedition was very much a challenge for me. I told my leader that I wanted to give up however he convinced me to continue and I did complete it. This taught me that even when I don’t feel like I can take one more step up the hill, I actually can. In the practice it was very windy (33mph) and we were walking on hills with no protection from trees. It was very hard to stay upright!
My completion of Gold got me on my school’s Gold award holders board in the reception area in gold writing! Even though I am no longer at school I enjoy knowing that my ‘legacy’ lives on forever.
St James’s Palace was so exciting. I took my mum as my guest and it was in my first term at university so being able to see my mum after leaving home for the first time was lovely.
I have volunteered at a Silver expedition as a leader which I enjoyed. My sister was in one of the groups so I got to see her at the campsite and check she was having fun even though she was not in the group I was leading.
The picture I will upload was made by my leader Aaron and I wish I had one for every expedition!
