Andrew Smith

I gained the Bronze Award in 1973, at St. Edwards's School, Oxford. I met HRH when he visited the school, as shown in the attached photo. I was playing clarinet in a chamber group (Stephen Lumsden, brother of the present Director of Music at Winchester Cathedral, was on bassoon). This was a bit of a cheat on my part, as I didn't do music for the Award (I did Astronomy for the Interest section)!

As well as my Expedition (I am now a keen wild camper and backpacker), I did First Aid for the Service section, as I told HRH!
