I was proud to receive my gold award back in 1983 with several other participants from my former school in Oxford. My memories of our expeditions are very clear and gave me a love of the outdoors and the joy of walking which is still very strong today. I went on to assist with several further expeditions to try and give something back to a truly important scheme which continues to bring out the best in people. I think that if everyone could wear their award this Saturday it would be a massive show of respect and thanks to Prince Philip.
