I really enjoyed doing my D o E at school and it helped you to really get to know well people in your year who you might not have spent time with, particularly on planning and completing the expedition to the Limestone pavings of the Yorkshire Dales. We learned a lot about the geology of the area and ourselves.
We were made to feel really proud when a few of us completed the Gold award and were invited to Buckingham Palace. We went with our Headmistress and Mums and had a lovely trip.
Prince Phillip asked me what my hobby was and when I said 'hockey' he stepped back, looked at my shins ( I was wearing a skirt and tights) and said 'I can't see any bruises'!
We all felt really at ease and I will never forget the occasion.
