Alison Browning MBE

I came to dofe late , no opportunity to do when a youth, the role of dofe manager was landed on me and so my journey began. I grew the numbers within my school, it became expected that we started something together so we finished it together.our awards evenings were a wonderful celebration of individual achievements for students, parents and staff. We were always pleased to welcome Sir Peter Field, our Lord lieutenant to join us.i had the pleasure of reading so many assessors reports, sometimes in awe of what the individuals had done.
I rediscovered my love for the outdoors as I joined the expeditions, going on to gain qualifications so I could lead and assess. The dofe programme gives young people a fantastic opportunity but it also gives to the adults involved. Seeing young people see a starry sky for the first time, experiencing the remoteness and quiet of being away from towns. I am so pleased to have been involved and hope to continue to volunteer in years to come.
