Completing my bronze Duke of Edinburgh in year 12 (first year of A-Levels) allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. It was the first time I had ever been on an expedition or experienced anything similar.
I gained new skills from the expedition as well as working my way to the expedition by completing the 3 activities. Volunteering in my community, building up my physical stamina and learning life skills had all amounted to masses of skills that I otherwise would have not gained. Having to form a group and plan the expedition allowed me to interact with peers I had never really spoken to during my A-levels.
I like to thank the duke for the volumes of work he has done for young people. I will always remember the efforts the duke put into this country. He will always be remembered.
