My Journey to complete my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award was absolutely amazing. Before my expedition I completed almost 60 hours of community work where I took part in a week long community project. Thousands of people from around the U.K. attended this event. I was a parking Marshall and worked with adults and event managers. It was a brilliant time to give something back to the community where I live. It was a great chance to
Build character and strength knowing the real expedition is yet to come. I did the DofE award through my School.
When it came to the real expedition, it was a nervous yet exciting time. The weather wasn’t on our side but that didn’t bother me at all. I was given lots of help and support and guidance prior to my expedition and was given a full kit and lots of conversations took place prior to the expedition.
The expedition was life changing, it was hard yet very rewarding and memorable. I gained lots of character and strength completing this award and learned many life skills that I wouldn’t normally in life. I’m very thankful for this opportunity that I was given and I’m hoping this will help me in my life in the years to come.
We as a family are very saddened to hear about the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh and wish to send our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family.
