I was in the very first Gold Presentation at Holyrood Palace and was very lucky to be presented with my certificate by Prince Philip - there were only 18 of us that day. I carried on helping with the Award until I left the Air Cadets but continued as an instructor and helper for some 30 years until help was required with a local organisation. So I joined and enjoyed a few years helping young girls (including my own girls) until I retired, Thoroughly enjoyed my time with the DofE - sometimes it was hard work but most of the time it was very enjoyable. To see the joy in the faces of the young people as they received their awards was always great. It was a fantastic opportunity when I did my gold - there were not so many choices available for young girls in those days. So glad that it still continues and wish the organisation all the best in the future xx
