Elizabeth John

I did my residential for my Gold Award in France which really broadened my horizons and gave me a thirst for adventure and travel. From this I went on to study French at university and have had a career as a French teacher. As a teacher I have been involved in the International Award Scheme, accompanying expeditions in the desert and even one in Mauritius. I have organised cookery club as a D of E skill and last year a story writing and resource making club for a school in Nepal as part of D of E service. One thing I enjoy most about D of E is seeing students flourish outside the classroom and developing skills they will use for years to come. The award, the expeditions and the fun we had and my afternoon at Buckingham Palace was such a memorable part of my growing up.
