I started my award whilst at senior school and it was the best thing I ever did. The different challenges I took really changed my life. From learning trampolining to travelling up to Scotland and working with the army and foreign students on conservation work, it took me completely out of my comfort zone. I met so many different people and learned many disciplines. My greatest thrill was to meet the Duke of Edinburgh at my Silver presentation at Sheffield Town Hall. The various sections of the award were being represented and I was sat outside a tent pretending to cook over a pretend fire, for the Adventure section. I couldn't believe it when Prince Philip actually came to talk to me. I was in complete awe of him and felt so honoured and proud. I still have my invite inside my Award book. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I was unable to fully complete my Gold, just two sections away from finishing it. That is my greatest regret. However, I have never forgotten those wonderful few moments of him talking to me. A wonderful man and I thank him from my heart for the way he changed my life. God bless you Sir.
