We are a family that has been involved with the D of E award scheme in several ways over the years and all very much benefited from the opportunities and experiences.
I took the D of E Bronze award at school, my wife Karen taught drama and soft skills to D of E candidates in Warwickshire for many years in the 1980s, through to our children, Lucy and Freddie, participating fully in the D of E programmes whilst at school in the last decade.
In 2016 I was delighted to join my daughter, Lucy, at St James's Palace when she received her Gold Award from Prince Philip, then aged 94. He held the whole room as he spoke to the award winners with great positivity and humour. A remarkable character.
