For my Bronze in 1974, I did voluntary work in my local library. This led to me getting a job as a Saturday Assistant there and I loved it! I had been thinking about a career in some sort of laboratory work, but decided to train as a librarian. I gained a degree in Librarianship and was a professional librarian for nearly 25 years, a career which was absolutely right for me. I met my future husband as a customer in the library too!

This week has brought back memories of some very happy times taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. It was such a well thought out programme to take part in.
