Georgia Williams

The Duke of Edinburgh Award opened so many doors for me that I attribute to where I am today.

The opportunity to take part in the DofE appeared for me through an Open Award Centre. I went on to complete all of the awards: bronze, silver, and gold, but I wasn’t done. I became a young leader where I developed a passion for ensuring all young people had the opportunity to take part. I taught participants vital skills to help them complete their award. Later, as a young ambassador, I promoted DofE through public speaking and sharing my own story.

I am now a primary school teacher where the fundamental skill of leadership, and passion for the outdoors as a Geography subject leader, is strongly rooted to my DofE experience. Because of the countless opportunities, essential life skills, and confidence it has given me, I will always hold this award very close to my heart.
