James Kinghorn

I write on behalf of my son who is a Gold Award holder. He achieved Bronze at his Special School and Silver and Gold at his Special College. It included walking, camping overnight, cooking and a week at an Outward Bound Centre in the Lakes where he did many activities.
This was an amazing achievement as James has Downs Syndrome and cannot effectively read or write. He had a wonderful time and is exceptionally proud of his achievement.
We attended St James Palace and met HRH Prince Edward on 9 November 2017. This was not a 'special needs' event - he was with all the other award winners - probably the best afternoon James will ever have. He says 'Perfect'.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is for everyone and will boost your self esteem and encourage you to achieve what seemed impossible.
