I was first told about the DofE as a 14 year old way back in 1964. My first thoughts were, (that is definitely for me). I completed my Bronze and Silver at School but didn’t complete my Gold until I was 20. I got so much out off my DofE with the Team working and loved the hills and mountains so much that I felt I had to carry on. So I started as a DofE leader. I am, nearly 50 years later still involved as a leader, assessor and edofe administrator. During those years my two daughters have completed their Gold award and I have two Grandsons on the way to completing their Gold. I have another two who will have completed their Silver next month when they will have done their two COVID expeditions. I still get so much pleasure being involved, it keeps me feeling young and it is great to be able to help young people get what I have out of the award. We owe the Duke so much for his insight and Drive in starting the DofE, it has had such a positive out come on our lives.
