Alan White
I was one of the first to achieve the Gold award as an apprentice at British Aerospace in Stevenage. When I went to St James's Palace I remember being lucky enough to speak to Prince Philip who asked me about my award and what I did to achieve the award. I also remember after receiving the award, I went to get my coat from the cloakroom at the palace. When I stepped backwards without looking ,I bumped into the person behind me and apologised. When I did a second take, it turned out to be Henry Cooper the ex Brush boxing champ. Not the person to tread on their toes.
