I did the award aged 15 and this was possibly the first time I completed a full range of tasks, from helping at the local Police station, completing a overnight trip with two other candidates, getting my honours in swimming and writing a thesis on Jochen Rindt’s life.
This award made me aware I could complete things to the end. I will be forever grateful to the the Duke of Edinburgh for starting such a scheme. R.I.P.
