I was the first girl from Morley Grammar school to get the Gold Award. As I was the only person doing it at that time I was unable to do the expedition until after I had left school. Miss Boot who was my biology teacher managed to get both of us on an expedition in the Lake District run by the army for male & female student nurses from Northallerton in 1972 & then the worthwhile project in 1973
I got the bronze in 1969, silver in 1971 & the finally the gold in 1974 from the Duke Of Edinburgh (in person) & in the company of my mother and Miss Boot.
I still have everything that I made, wrote about & collected in connection with the awards.
