I joined DofE whilst at school in Seychelles. I followed it through to my Gold Award which was presented to me at Buckingham Palace in early February. I was the first person from Seychelles to receive it there and proudly represented Seychelles as the youngest member of the Commonwealth. A lot has been said about how knowledgeable and witty Prince Philip was and I share the sentiment.
The scheme taught me endurance, character and team building and responsibilities and giving back to the community through charitable events and taught me new skills I would not have achieved otherwise. I am ever so grateful to HRH Prince Philip for being part in shaping my life and giving me the opportunity.
I offer my sincere condolences to the Royal Family on their sad loss. He will be missed by one and all throughout the world.
