I was 16 when I was awarded with my Silver D of E Award back in 1966 and although I never received my Gold D of E, I did complete my expedition, with some wonderful experiences and making wonderful friends. Since 1966 until today, I have spent 55 years still being an assessor for DoE Award mainly through Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets, my work within education and through my dance Academy, encouraging young people to complete their D of E and enjoying every moment. D of E has given me so much in my life and only a few weeks ago, I was assessing a dancer who was signing off for her Silver Award. I have loved every minute and so thankful to the Duke of Edinburgh for introducing and encouraging so many young people.
