I achieved my Gold Award in 1969 as part of a small group from a school in Banffshire, Scotland. When I returned as a teacher to the same school I restarted the Award Scheme in 1971 and it is still active today. Over The years I have discovered it gives the young people the confidence and resilience to move out of their comfort zone and take part in a range of activities and skills they may never have considered possible otherwise and achieve success within their capabilities which a huge moral boost. I am still in contact with some, now adults, and they have fond memories of the challenges, the fun and in many cases helped in their career which itch is excellent. An Award to be recommended to everyone , all can achieve. Thank you, Frances.
