On receiving my Gold award at Buckingham Palace in 1980, the Duke was concerned if I had washed my hands or if they still had oil on after learning of my car maintenance course. Brought a smile to everyone. I got involved with the awards through Girl Guides and went on to give 40 years voluntarily service to the Girl Guide movement.
