Sarah Salisbury

I completed the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award whilst I was in the Girl Guides.
It was a fantastic experience, I loved planning & doing expeditions, learning many skills along the way, camping outdoors, lighting fires, map reading etc. I was also part of a team building a canoe, did a florist course & became a volunteer leader for a local Cub Scout group which I loved.
I spent hours with my friends doing these things & met & was supported to achieve the award by amazing talented people.
I think that the skills & the development of really important personal qualities happened during this time. I have gone on to become a registered nurse & have pursued a career in the NHS, I’m sure the resilience, determination & people skills I acquired achieving my DoE award have helped me through my life.
I have huge admiration for the Duke of Edinburgh & send my condolences to his family.
