There are too many D of E stories to choose from! The Award process was one of the best things I have ever done. It taught me so much about myself and developed my determination, my ability, my discipline and my resilience. It holds so many wonderful memories and I built solid friendships through the highs and the lows of expedition and physical progress and the learning of skills and service. It is a process that should be encouraged to every young person and I think I can go as far to say that it could do more for many than general education.

I feel incredibly privileged to have been a part of the awards process and to achieve my gold accolade. I will be forever thankful that the Duke of Edinburgh created this award programme; he will be greatly missed but leaves behind this wonderful legacy for generations to come.
