The Award has had a tremendous and advantageous effect on my life I met my husband with whom I have been married to for 32 years we have two lovely sons who both have gained DofE Awards... their partners too are Gold Award holders as are Ian and I. I was lucky enough to be an Award Manager and then an ambassador.... my two favourite memories of HRH are at a lunch his session had run a little over and our lunch was delayed he was not happy that we had not eaten... he asked why.......there was a choice chicken/ vegetarian.....he told them in aspiration.. give them all chicken ..they do have to eat the chicken!!!. My second was a discussion on the art work between st James palace and Buckingham Palace... we agreed to disagree....a most charming lovely gentleman...Deena Brooks
