Rutendo Ganga
This is a journey that is coming close to its end for me to become a gold holder but it’s been an experience that has helped me to record my progress and development in my cooking, sport and my ability to meet new people during a residential that I will hold very close to my heart. It was a week that I was able to create new friends that I am still in contact with and have happily met up with and look forward to the future memories we will create which I can thank doing DofE for being a reason I met them!!
I’ve always been someone who likes to learn new skills and gain new experiences and DofE is certainly an organisation that helps allow me to do that. I’ve learnt the way to navigate around new areas with a compass and map, how to light a fire with limited resources, the basic set up of packing and equipment required for camping... and a whole lot more.
It helps you to broaden the way you see things and gives you ways to help others with the volunteering section they have.
It’s a great experience no doubt and I look forward to completing it and becoming a Gold Award Holder!
