My mother completed her D of E Award in Bristol in the 1960s. She came from a deprived background and was able to take part like everyone else. She had no kit or experience but she was welcomed. She succeeded, she grew because of it, she has had a positive life full of amazing experiences and now her grandchildren are doing the same....finding themselves through adventure. Thank you Prince Philip, you created a scheme where all were equal and this has helped three generations of our family!
