The final walk for the Gold was the toughest. Must have been fairly fit in those days - carrying 60lb packs the final walk was from the shores of Loch Etive up a 3,000 foot pass, in glorious sunshine and then down to a lochan for the first night's camp. then a straight walk to Kingshouse in Glencoe for night two, before tackling the Devils staircase and down to Kinlochleven. Two days later I discovered an unwanted souvenir - a tick !
Great to receive the award from Prince Philip at Holyrood Palace. Sad that we lost him on Friday, and my thoughts are with the family. There is no doubting both his commitment to public service, and his contribution to the life of this country.
