I received my gold award in 1968 or 1969, it helped me to develop as a person it helped me develop resilience which I think shaped my life, when I got my award it was quite rare and I was the only gold holder in my local Girls Brigade which made me proud and helped me to deliver worth in myself. The proudest day of my dads life - mine also- was driving through those gates of Buckingham Palace, it was an experience I will never ever forget, I was also in the guard of honour at Westminster Abbey when the queen attended.
