Doing the D of E award was a fantastic experience for me. It made me realise that once I set my mind to doing something, that I would never give up. When we were doing our Gold Award expedition in Scotland in the Highlands, even though I was totally exhausted, freezing cold, drenched and aching everywhere, I never gave up and pushed through and finished the expedition. I think it made me realise my inner strength and determination which I never knew I had. The award gives young people a fulfilling experience and an opportunity to showcase their strength and achieve something really amazing.
