Ellie Grimes

I have completed my bronze DofE award but was a very different experience. Half of our award was during the pandemic which made our experience very hard and strange. we worked around doing our volunteering, skills and physical sections but our training expeditions and qualifying expeditions we held off a few different times. When we finally got around to doing our qualifying expedition we had amazing weather but always extremely bad weather but that did not hold us back or put us down. Although we couldn't stay and camp at the campsites, throughout the days of the expedition it was a great, outstanding and complicated time. There was a few misunderstandings and fall outs but that was all because we were stressed and tired as we didn't have a few days of training and wasn't as prepared because it was some of ours first time doing stuff like this whereas, some of us do scouting and stuff like this. On the other hand, as a whole we had a great time and we created many beautiful memories. However, most of all we wouldn't be able to do any of this if the amazing Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh hadn't set this incredible award up. May he rest in peace and he will be missed but thousands of people and people like me will go on to the silver award and continue to join and complete this award.
