DofE expeditions presented many challenges from dealing with the typical British weather to packing the least amount of equipment possible. But the comradery with my team mates is the aspect I will cherish the most. We shared many laughs and jokes but in the more challenging moments it was the trust we had in each other that allowed us to carry on and reach the end of the day. The DofE award also allowed me to see my own potential as a team leader, a role I had never previously considered myself capable of. The confidence, in myself, that I gained through the award scheme has allowed me to take more risks in all other aspects of my life grab all opportunities that come my way. The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is a long lasting legacy for HRH Prince Phillip and one I am proud to have participated in. It is a program I wish my own children, and grandchildren, will have the chance to participate in.
