My D of E was extremely memorable and life changing. I learnt to camp in extreme conditions, parachute, swim front crawl and then pass my experiences to other people by volunteering for a local d of e organisation. My most memorable d of e experience was watching the solar eclipse standing on top of a tor in Dartmoor for the assessed gold award. I still can’t believe I managed to parachute out of a plane and only just miss landing on the airfield’s hanger! The ultimate achievement was attending St James palace with my proud father and shaking hands with the Duke of Edinburgh. My daughter is now following my footsteps and I hope she had the most amazing d of e journey that I had.
