Maggie Smith

The award taught me skills not taught at my grammar school in Cornwall.
Orienteering made me a good map reader and direction giver!
Photography surprised me, discovering I had an ability I didn't know I had in composition and curiosity.

First Aid, taught very well by one of the local policeman.
I still have a vivid picture of him, very tall and large, tiptoeing in careful not to disturb the silence of the ending prayer, the 'resussy Annie' model draped over his arms.
We of course were all agog trying hard not to giggle out loud.
