The DofE was one of the best things I ever did. It taught me rigorous map reading, first aid and survival skills and gave me the confidence to navigate places around the world in my adult life. Unfortunately our school stopped doing it when I was partway through silver but the seed had been sown. I absolutely love walking in wild places and using the skills I learned on DofE.
