DofE for me was amazing, I had fantastic opportunities to do and learn a lot of skills, meet new people and travel. We are a 2 generation gold award holding family with my dad, siblings and myself all holding the top award. When recieving my gold award at St James' Palace I was fortunate enough to be able to speak briefly with Prince Phillip. He asked if anyone had done their expedition abroad, no one responded so I raised my hand and mentioned that I hadn't but that I had done my residential in Lanzarote. He then asked if it had been good and I said it was lovely and sunny and he quipped good naturedly "you're not supposed to enjoy it, you know"
