A lot of memories weren't enjoyable at the time, but I now look back at them quite fondly. An hour spent walking the wrong way; being horribly late at arriving to camp and waking up with the cord of my sleeping bag wrapped uncomfortably around my neck at two in the morning.
It sounds miserable, yet with the company of my friends and the ever friendly faces of the Duke of Edinburgh instructors, they were genuinely enjoyable moments.
Pulling friends up rocky hills and helping them out of swamps; singing to keep morale up; jelly babies; helping a lamb get unstuck and the stunning sight of several deer running down a hill as we left a forest the next morning.
I found the expedition to be a rewarding experience, if slightly tiring - and would not hesitate to go through it all again.
