I have completed bronze, silver and will complete gold DofE this summer in a group with my friend and each time we have made more memorable memories that have brought us closer and that I hope we will remember forever. You always meet the nicest people when walking and you realise that people are always happy to help out when they know you are taking part in something so worthwhile. I think completing DofE really says something about your character and this is not only from the expedition itself but the sections as well. I have volunteered at an old people’s day centre, rabbit rescue charity and raised money for a charity all of which have given me a new set of skills which I will carry forward in life.
My DofE leader Mr Cox, from St Catherine’s school Twickenham, was amazing on my silver expedition and looked after us before himself by hammering down our tents in the middle of the night when the winds picked up and reminding us to “stay hydrated”!
Therefore I will always be grateful to the DofE scheme for the memory’s and skills I have picked up along the way. RIP Prince Phillip.
