As well as the many life skills and challenges I had faced during my Bronze DofE, what I remember the most are the laughs I had and the new friendships that formed on my expedition.

I specifically remember getting lost and asking a gentleman in his car outside an old airfield which direction was the village we were looking for. Despite his very useful attempts to help us, it was becoming more obvious that he did not know either. Taking a 50/50 chance, we decided to keep walking down the road after a quick and thorough evaluation of the map. It wasn't until 2 miles later when we were still on the same track in the middle of nowhere and hadn't reached the said village, we realised we had gone the wrong way and had to walk the 2 miles back.

Passing the man in his car on the way back again, which did earn us a smile from him and a few questions when we reached our checkpoint as to where we had been.

Despite this, we managed to finish first out of all the groups and successfully completed the expedition. It was moments like that and tracking through a wet cabbage field, that I will never forget.

Thank You Duke of Edinburgh!
