I remember participating in the Bronze Award when I was in year 9, before then I had never done camping or even volunteering but when I undertook this award it pushed me to experience a world outside of my understanding at the time and it was so eye-opening. I think more then anything it allowed me to build confidence and do a lot of things I never thought about doing, and that in life I am very capable. I remember one particular memory on my expedition where we got lost in the middle of a forest for almost 4 hours, I think it’s an experience i’ll carry with me for the rest of my life and I’m very grateful to having gone through it.
