For my DofE gold expedition I signed up for 9 days of sailing, our initial goal was to sail to St Kilda, however due to some very bad weather we travelled in and around Oban and the surrounding ports instead. This turned out to be one of the best weeks of my life and something I’ll never forget. It ignited my passion and love for sailing and allowed me to gain 2 RYA qualifications. Not only this but forming new leadership skills that I use throughout my daily life. My favourite memory from the trip was when we sailed to Tobermory, where we initially docked onto a buoy off shore, before docking further in port, we then went on to explore the village, and saw a number of the buildings from Balamory. Through doing this expedition I joined a group of people I’d never met before and formed lifelong friendships.
