The highlight was climbing Mount Toubkal in North Africa for my gold expedition. At night it was so cold that one of the team members socks that had been thrown out of the tent (due to the smell) had frozen to the ground. We couldn’t continue our climb until the warmth of the sun thawed them out!

At the interview for teacher training college, achieving my gold award was the topic I was asked to talk about. I gained my place and have been a primary school teacher for 20+ years!

Attending the award ceremony at st James palace with my dad is a fond memory -I still remember how posh the palace toilet facilities were.

My daughter, a keen RAF cadet is now on her way to completing her silver award.
