The three DofE awards shaped my teenage years. They allowed me to get out and do things outside of my comfort zone, whilst pushing myself, improving my confidence and team-working skills.
I particularly remember my volunteering work - I volunteered in Children’s Hospice South West’s charity shop for 5 years, beginning when I first started my Bronze Award, and continuing on until I was in Sixth Form. I met some incredible people with incredible stories and learned so much, whilst helping the community.
Visiting Buckingham Palace to accept my Gold DofE award was also a prominent memory. It was lovely to be able to celebrate my achievements and speak with others who had accomplished the same.
Without the invaluable experience of the DofE awards, I would not be the person I am today. Thank you. Rest in Peace Prince Philip.
