DofE is at the centre of some of the best memories of my teenage years.

I was so eager to sign up because I was so inspired by the stories that I heard from my older peers. I remember rushing out of school with the sign up form and going straight to the post office with my Dad to send it off; I was so excited to find out I'd gained a place.

Growing up progressing through the Scouting Movement, I had a very good idea with what the scheme would have in store. However, Bronze through to Silver and then Gold pushed me to limits I didn't know I had. The support we had was amazing and each level saw 100% pass rate at my school, The Earl of Wessex couldn't believe we were all from the same school!

Silver especially holds a particularly special place in my heart. Our school partnered with a school from New Zealand and through this I made a friend for life, resulting in me pursuing my own travels at the age of 18 to Queenstown. The silver expedition was also the final hurrah for the glue that held the soles of my walking boots on! They were soon fixed and walked me through my Gold expedition too!

My Gold expedition and residential again saw me digging deep, making new friends and painting many, many YHA walls.

Visiting St James Palace has got to be the ultimate highlight of my journey, it really brought to light how incredible this achievement really is.

The Duke of Edinburgh has, and will continue to inspire so many young adults and leaders to find strength that they didn't know they had.

To The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip,

Thank You.
