Although it’s a long time since I completed my Gold award, I still look back with enormous pride and a great sense of achievement. My only wish is that social media had been a thing back then so I could have shared photos which every anniversary would appear on my feed. My absolute favourite parts were the expeditions, practice hikes and physical challenges learning new skills and of course the residential where I met amazing friends and tested my resilience and perseverance to the full. Such a great award to be part of and I cannot wait until later this year when my eldest son starts on the path to bronze award. I would love to do it all again. Receiving the award at Buckingham Palace with my parents is one of my fondest memories, cherished forever.
