Amy Chenery

Myself and three other fellow school friends Emma Carmalt, Lucy Ramsden, Sarah Brown and Robyn Wale all signed up for the Duke of Edinburgh Challenge. We had previously completed the bronze award and we went on to do the silver. The rain was the worst that Yorkshire had ever seen and we couldn’t even put up our tent. I ended up cooking in a public restroom on a toilet just to light our cooker. It was the most funniest experience of my life. I will never forget those cherished moments...walking across fields being chased by cows. It tried to reach me to be confident and independent and I am so grateful to The Duke of Edinburgh for setting the award up. I will cherish the moments I had with my school friends and I have carried on the love of walking into my adulthood, it’s contributed to the person that I am today. I am now a serving Police Officer and I’m sure some of my skills and resilience must stem from my time on the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Thank you Sir.
