Paul Thorpe

Completed my bronze and silver awards almost 40 years ago at school. Treasured my badges and still have them. Was so close to gaining my gold only had expedition to complete but by then I’d left school and went into a career in mental health nursing and still working in very tough times now.

. So many skills I gained during my awards very transferable into my nursing career and I always proudly marked them as achievements on my cv. Stayed very local for expeditions living near the dales and peak district .
Think the teacher that encouraged us was Mr Boulter? From Carter lodge comprehensive school in Sheffield. He was a character not too dissimilar to prince Philip .

Great memories great friendships great times great laughs, hard work but a real sense of achievement and satisfaction. Received my awards & badges from the Lord Mayor of Sheffield

Any youths today please give it a go You will love it

RIP Phillip and Thank You

My condolences to the queen .
